Last week, Dr. Eric Goodman, creator of Foundation Training, explained how bodyweight exercises and postures a few minutes a day can help us recover from injury and chronic pain.

Today, we continue the conversation on chronic pain management by exploring the use of cannabis as a viable alternative to pharmaceuticals.

How Cannabis works to Manage Chronic Pain?

Dr. Goodman explains how cannabis stimulates the endogenous cannabinoid system in a healthy and natural way. This lowers pain and improves the quality of life, especially for people suffering from chronic conditions such as Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, cancer, etc.

While cannabis use is now being widely legalized and its medicinal properties recognized, the stigma still exists. It's important to note that cannabis is not a cure for anything.

But as you'll be hearing in this episode, compared to surgery and pharmaceuticals used for chronic pain management, cannabis is a much better alternative.

Along with sharing his own and his patients' stories of using cannabis to manage chronic pain, Dr. Goodman explains why he strongly advocates for its medical use in a safe way.

"There's a significant neuroprotective element to cannabis that works with the endocrine system" Dr. Eric Goodman.

Is Smoking Cannabis Harmful to your health?

This is an interesting question to many people interested in using medical cannabis through this route.

According to Dr. Goodman, smoking pot with nothing else, such as tobacco or papers, doesn't affect the lungs. He adds that when you do it that way, based on studies, there actually appears to be a protective pulmonary impact.

But cannabis is not for everyone.

For people diagnosed with schizophrenia or who have a familial history of this condition, Dr. Goodman advises that they shouldn't be taking cannabis. It can worsen the symptoms. But they can go for CBD oil which doesn't have THC, the main psychoactive compound in cannabis.

Tune in to learn more about the cannabinoid system, CBD use, smoking, edibles, and much more.
